For our project we're currently running some FxCop (Managed Binary Analyses) and Roslyn (SonarLint) rules as part of our local build. In total 148 FxCop rules and about 78 SonarLint rules are configured.
When I or my other colleagues want to run the build locally Visual Studio freezes and we need to restart Visual Studio. After the restart this problem still occurs and we were forced to turn off all the FxCop rules (now the problem doesn't appear anymore). We couldn't figure which FxCop rule(s) are introducing this issue. Because when we thought we found the issue then the issue occurs in another build configuration (like in Debug everything is working fine, but building in Release Visual Studio still freezes). And for other applications other rules must be disabled then for another application to prevent Visual Studio from freezing.
We are using .NET Framework 4.6.1 with async and await. But the issue also occurred with .NET Framework 4.5.2. We are experiencing this issue in Visual Studio 2015 (Update 3 and before).
We really want to run FxCop + Roslyn together. I was wondering if this issue sounds familiar to someone. Or if someone has tips or tricks to prevent Visual Studio from freezing while still being able to run code analysis locally.
